Sunday 14th February, the 32nd All Ireland Credit Union Art Competitions kicked off in Dublin’s Croke Park stadium where an array of fantastic pieces of Art work were on display. This year’s theme was ‘Happiness is….’ which was poignantly shown by each entrant with imagination, vibrancy, creativity and talent expressed in each piece of art. The competition is one of the biggest art competitions in Ireland for children and adults alike. This year’s competition attracted a huge 30,000 entries through 300 credit unions nationwide.

Irish League of Credit Unions President Brian McCrory said: “We wholeheartedly support the artistic development of people, young and old, in our communities across the island of Ireland.  The artists here today should be extremely proud of themselves and the quality of the artwork displayed is truly outstanding”.  This year’s judging panel were: John Walsh, creative director of FOCUS Advertising Agency; Eileen Brophy of UTV Ireland; and artist Ursula Retzlaff O’Connell.

Congratulations were in order for St Jarlath’s Credit Unions art entry, local pupil Lisa Reilly with her inspirational art work theme around Happiness and nature which won in the Local Level and Regional Level event stages and went on for adjudication in the All-Ireland stage of the event which was a huge achievement.
